Pamela Thorne

With more than 13 years of experience as a management trainer, Pam Thorne's reputation for consistently excellent programs has resulted in her being invited to conduct seminars for corporations both large and small, and government agencies throughout Australia, in the UK, and now in the USA.

She has helped to improve the writing and communication skills of scientists, financial specialists, technical staff, administrators and managers, as well as sales and customer service personnel. She was a consultant to the Australian Institute of Management since 1989.

Her training expertise covers a broad range of topics revolving around management and communication issues. They include Leadership, the Manager as Coach, Navigating Change, Supervisory Skills, Conflict Resolution and Team Building. As well, Pamela is an expert trainer in the topic of Business Writing, and is a passionate advocate of Plain Language.

Prior to becoming a trainer, Pamela worked in advertising as a media researcher, and was also a production assistant with a company making training videos for hospitals and pathologists. She has also worked as a sales representative for an international pharmaceutical company.

Always deeply interested in the world of words, in literature, communication and psychology, Pamela is able to bring her personal interests to the training room and so benefit her participants.

Her other interests include sailing and scuba diving. She has completed several ocean crossings on small yachts, has cruised the Barrier Reef in Australia, the coast of Northern Brazil and French Guyana, and lived on her own yacht in the British Virgin Islands, surviving three hurricanes. She is one of the few people to have visited Devil's Island (of Papillion fame) in French Guyana. She now lives in Annapolis, Maryland, with a view of the Chesapeake.

Pamela's breadth of experience in many areas of life translates to a rich experience for her participants in the training room. Add to that an Aussie sense of humor, a relaxed training style, and an understanding of what motivates participants and how to get a message across, and you have an exciting day of learning for participants.
